Amelia Moore Releases “teaching a robot to love (additional data)”
BY OLIVIA LEON
Self-proclaimed “homeschool to hollywood” artist Amelia Moore put out her debut EP “teaching a robot to love” at the start of this summer, and most recently released the full album version “teaching a robot to love (additional data)” on August 10.
The 20 year old multi-instrumentalist delves into the core emotions tied to toxic relationships, coping, and moving past them throughout the two releases. The title encapsulates this — the feeling of having to teach someone, who is unable to learn, to love. “Writing this whole project was very healing for me,” Amelia explains. Songwriting is often like therapy for her, she expands, allowing her to feel truly connected to her music and convey that depth for fans to connect to, as well.

“It’s just honest and relatable and I don't really shy away from saying anything that I needed to say… I really hope the listeners that relate to this music feel really heard and really seen and know that if they’ve ever felt like they’ve tried to teach a robot to love before, so have I,” Amelia says.
“teaching a robot to love (additional data)” ventures further into these creative roots. With piano parts lacing the EP’s tracks, Amelia develops a perfect harmony for the soul-bearing vulnerability she presents throughout. “Be honest and vulnerable in conversations with your friends,” Amelia says. A major part of the artist’s writing process ties back to her conversations with friends, admitting that the title for the album even came from a game of “Cards With Humanity” played with friends.
But this process remains ever-changing. Amelia notes that while sometimes a concept will come to her mid-conversation with close friends, other times it's more of a “spiritual,” “stream of consciousness” flow. Regardless of the inspiration, the artist reflects that she has become much more comfortable writing alone and trusting her instincts over time.
And her instincts certainly appear to be right because Amelia's latest album is not only full of striking tracks, but a clear reflection of her success. With the release of “teaching a robot to love (additional data),” came a new era for the artist. Between being named Apple Music’s latest UP artist to making her television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Amelia Moore is quickly becoming the artist to know. “Everything that is happening right now I’ve been dreaming for years,” she says.
