STEVE LACY PLAYS BALTIMORE SOUNDSTAGE

The moment that Steve Lacy announced Give You The World Tour in August 2022, the tour was sold out almost immediately and rightfully so. Lucky for Baltimore Soundstage, Lacy graciously performed an unforgettable set since we were the smallest venue on the tour (about 1,000 max capacity). Lacy himself said that he didn't mind and that it would be a more intimate night.

The lights dimmed and the fans were ready. Lacy had to tell the tour crew to only use half of the smoke in the fog machine that night and opened up with Helmets.

His sophomore album, Gemini Rights, is what I call the follow up "break-up" album compared to his debut studio album Apollo XXI. In this album, we as the audience, get to experience the hurt and grief of a break up. Static is an example of him in the moment he knew that it was over in his relationship. The lyrics spilled through everyone's mouth; screaming every word. Other moments in the set showed him in his lovebird state like N-Side and Basement Jack.
Foushee (also the opener for the tour) came out to sing Sunshine with Lacy which showcases her amazing voice over Lacy's guitar chords. Give Steve Lacy a guitar and he can hypnotize a crowd. At one point, Lacy zoned out and had his own out-of-body experience while playing the guitar. Lacy's stage presence on top of his natural guitar talent made the night go so smoothly for everyone. From my own twitter feed, I can confidently say that we had a well-manner crowd in Baltimore. Even when Bad Habits was played, the crowd reacted appropriately with the screams and excitement without shoving into one another. Those concert tickets definitely went into the hands of true fans.

As of right now (October 22, 2022), Steve Lacy has the number one song (Bad Habits) on the Billboard Top 100. It's been on the charts for 15 weeks so far. Can't wait for what else is in-stored from Lacy.
