Greta Van Fleet’s New Single: Meeting The Master
Greta Van Fleet debuted their new song, “Meeting the Master,” at their Anaheim, California show on March 24 and announced their new album, “Starcatcher,” at their Sacramento, California shows two days later. Lead singer Josh Kiszka introduces the song to the crowd by saying, “This next song is nerve-racking considering that it is brand new and this is the first time the world is going to hear it.” The crowd roared with excitement to see where the journey continued after waiting for what felt like an eternity for new music.
“Meeting the Master” opens with a dreamy- folky guitar sound. A vast difference from their last album, “The Battle at Garden Gate,” whose sound was explosive and dominating. The song's sound is a lot lighter and brighter. It is as if the band captured what it is like to be ascended to the heavens.
In the second chorus is the explosion of Josh’s vocals backed heavily by Daniel Wagner’s drums. It takes the heavenly experience to another level. It forces the mind out of the body and is free with the song's sound. Josh’s vocals dance with Jacob Kiszka’s guitar riffs. They both take the listener on a rhythmic journey to their glorious destination of the “Master.”
The song closes out with Josh magically and calmly singing the lyrics, “All of our love.” Laying the listener to rest after the transcendent journey they just went through.
